What’s in an EDI 832?

As a replacement for a paper catalog entry, the EDI 832 contains detailed product information and may include:

  • Product ID numbers
  • Unit prices and tax information
  • Product identification—UPC, EAN, GTIN, etc.
  • Detailed product descriptions
  • Unit of measurement, if applicable
  • Date that the catalog pricing and information was last updated

When is an EDI 832 typically issued?

The EDI 832 may be sent to an electronic catalog service if a retail buyer requests additional information, or if a supplier wants to enter or update a product listing.
